(Photo by Apichart Jinakul)The government on Wednesday gave the green light to City Hall to go ahead with its plan to evict the Mahakan Fort community. Mahakan Fort community members said they were disappointed that Gen Prawit did not allow residents to defend their proposed conservation plan, while city officials were allowed to present their plan that meets a land appropriation decree that forces residents to leave their homes. Tensions remain high as the BMA is set to demolish more houses on Thursday in the second phase of demolition. City Hall, along with other state agencies, will work under a time frame to be set by the Interior Ministry.
